Belk Chapel Chancel at Dedicatory Service, June 1950

Belk Chapel was a gift from the business associates of William Henry Belk in honor of the founders of the Belk Brothers Department Stores, William Henry Belk and Dr. John M. Belk.  The Belk family has a close association with Queens; members of the family have been on the board of trustees and graduates of Charlotte Female Institute and Presbyterian College for Women.  Alumnae will remember the King's Bible was given as a gift from His Majesty, George VI of England to be used in the Chapel.  This Bible, currently housed in Special Collections, is the third Bible given by King George VI to churches in the United States.
