General Policies

  • We require 48 hour notice for requests of audio-visual and video equipment for classroom delivery or pickup. You may make these requests on a per-use basis, a regularly reoccurring basis, or send us your requests for the entire semester.
  • We ask that in planning an event or class that will require our services, please try to notify our department as far in advance as possible. Some services require thorough planning and testing before being ready. Others simply warrant availability. It is in your best interest to notify us as soon as possible.
  • Depending on the availability, certain types of equipment may be checked out to individuals on a daily, weekly, or semester basis.
  • We maintain a pool of audio, video and presentation equipment for instructional and institutional use. Equipment is checked out on a first come/ first serve basis (with classroom use as top priority).
  • We support and maintain only that equipment which appears on our inventory, including replacement of light bulbs for projectors. If you have a need for specific equipment, we can make this arrangment. If a department transfers funds into our cost center for equipment, we will then turn it over to the department on long-term loan, and maintain it. If the department purchases equipment on their own, we are not responsible for its maintenance.
  • Allow reasonable time for completion of video duplication requests. Time needed to complete a project depends on complexity, other commitments, and personnel availability.
  • The majority of classrooms have overhead projectors and screens. Call to confirm status of room being used. PLEASE DO NOT INTERCHANGE EQUIPMENT BETWEEN ROOMS OR BORROW FROM OTHER ROOMS. Call us immediately if you have a breakdown or other problem at 704-337-2323.
  • Tape recorders and most other media equipment are available to students for use on classroom assignments. WE DO NOT OWN A CAMCORDER TO BE LENDED OUT. Information on reserving and checking out equipment is located at ITS office. A Queens University id is required at time of pickup. Unreturned equipment will be reported as stolen and turned over to University Police for recovery as well as any criminal charges if necessary.
