Network Overview


Queens University of Charlotte faculty, staff and students are provided access to the wealth of resources on the global Internet via a campus fiber-optic backbone. All buildings are connected to our intranet and the internet via a fiber campus backbone. This includes access in all dorm study areas with wiring to each room in Hayes, Belk, Abright and South dorm.  Internet Access is provided to Wallace Residence Hall via DSL connectivity provided by Time Warner's high speed Road Runner service. Technical support issues for Internet connections with Wallace Residence Hall rooms is provided by Road Runner Business Class. Technical support contact information is available from the Wallace Residence Coordinator.

The network topology is a switched ethernet environment. Connections to the Internet are provided via a 5 Mb fiber line with firewall protection implemented to guard against intrusion.
