SEASONAL NATURALISTS  Work from June 7-August 6, 2004
Attend a week-long training workshop
Educate and supervise children ages 7-12 during nature-themed day camp
Develop and present environmental education programs to groups of all ages

COMPENSATION  $10.15/hour - 40 hours/week for 9 weeks
Please note: Housing is not available.

QUALIFICATIONS  Qualified applicants must be presently enrolled in, or have a BS/BA degree in one of the following fields: natural/environmental sciences, environmental education, education or related field. Applicants must have a strong desire to work with children in an outdoor setting, be able to hike 3-5 miles on unpaved trails, work outside in hot weather and lead children through a diversity of habitats. Applicants must have reliable transportation. Current basic first aid and CPR certification and knowledge of the flora and fauna of the Piedmont region of North Carolina is preferred.

The most prestigious, best-paying, and generally most appropriate internships for Queens students usually are called REU and/or NSF (National Science Foundation - Research Experience for Undergraduates).

Those internships are planned for people like you and must meet special criteria for funding from the National Science Foundation (a good thing). These (and some other internships) are also appropriate for recent graduates trying to decide whether to continue with graduate school.
