- “Separation of Church & State” is often described as one of the key accomplishments of the American Revolution. Why was the idea so controversial? What was its affect on religion? Is the idea still controversial today?
- The American Revolution meant “liberty!” – for some. Many, though not all, African-Americans remained in bondage. How did the Great Awakening affect them? How did religion complicate the whole issue of slavery?
