History 299A - 01: Research Techniques & Writing

    Late Paper Policy:

1.    Papers listed as DUE IN CLASS are due at the BEGINNING of the class period
                (not during or after).

2.    Papers handed in late will automatically be penalized a full letter grade for the first day/
                two full letter grades for anything more than 24 hours late.

3.    You may e-mail me papers, but if you do not come to class on the day the paper
                is due, the paper will be counted as late (unless, of course, you have
                made other arrangements with me in advance).

4.    PLEASE NOTE:  I have no sympathy for last minute computer-related
                excuses.  Write your paper with enough time to spare to deal with any foreseeable
                difficulties AND SAVE YOUR WORK.

    Grade Distribution Policy:

    Argument Paper                10%
    Critical Book Review        10%
    Bibliographies                   10% (5% each)
    Letter Summaries              10%
    Participation                      
        (in-class discussion,
            presentation, and
        meetings & journal)        15% (5% each) 
    Historiography Paper        15%
    Work at Library                   10%
    Rough Draft (1/2) &
            Final Paper (2/3)        20%
