Registration for Spring 2009
- What’s “registration”?
·
Registration is the time when you, with your advisor’s help, pick
your next semester’s schedule.
- Who’s my advisor?
- Your Core 112 instructor is still your advisor.
- In Spring 2009, you’ll switch to a permanent
advisor, someone who teaches in a field you’d like to study.
- Has advising changed?
- No. You’ll still have an advisor; you still should
meet with your advisor to discuss your program.
- Your advisor will help you plan your Spring 09
schedule.
- Has registration changed?
- Yes! We’ve gone electric!
- All the old multi-form, multi-signature paperwork
is gone!
- Starting now, all registration will be done
electronically.
- Your “Portal” is your MyQueens Account.
- Notice that your MyQueens account will let you do
everything you need to do about your schedule – find courses, check your
grades, get e-mail from your instructors, and so on.
- So when you register, you’ll actually register
through your MyQueens account, with your advisor’s help.
- So – what do I have to do?
- Plan your Spring 09 program!
- Remember, you’re responsible for your program!
Your advisor will give the best advice possible, but ultimately it’s up
to you to plan a good program.
- Work through “MyQueens” – look for the Spring 09
course listings (they’ll be posted soon); notice that you can hunt for
courses in particular departments, courses that meet at specific times,
and so on.
- How many courses should I take?
- 4 – 5 courses.

of 18 for a “normal load”
Ideal pace is
roughly 15 hours/semester – 30 hours/year
